Meet David Vittor

Domain Engineering Manager With Cuscal since 2023

Forward with David: Cuscal’s powerful purpose and the chance to give back

From aligning Cuscal’s complex technology layers to exploring AI implementation and tokenisation, Domain Engineering Manager, David Vittor, is thriving on the variety and challenge of life at Cuscal. But David brings more than an incredible technical skillset to our team. He’s a leader with heart, a person driven by purpose, and at Cuscal, he’s found just the place to make real impact.

Because it’s about trust

As you’d expect, like many members of our team, David Vittor had experience working for fintechs before coming to Cuscal. However, David’s reasons for joining us are somewhat different to most – stemming from his time working as a missionary in Zambia.

When David was 23 years old, he travelled to Zambia as part of a missionary group to support local people with teaching at schools and building public toilets. This was a transformative experience for the young software engineer in so many ways, but it really impacted how he viewed financial systems.

“I realised one of the big problems in developing countries is that people often don’t trust their banking systems. It really drove home to me that, at the end of the day, banking and finance are all about trust. Banking simply doesn’t work without it.”

David returned from his second trip to Zambia with a new perspective on the role of banks and financial / payment systems. And that’s when he decided to join Cuscal.

David acknowledges that for many people, payment solutions can feel like an abstract concept. But, he says, once you understand what Cuscal does, you’re able to see the immense impact.

“Working at Cuscal is about helping to create this interconnected community, built around a stable financial system. I think that’s important.”
