Meet Ellen Giebels

Forward with Ellen: Reimagining the future with Cuscal

It doesn’t take long after meeting Ellen Giebels to appreciate she’s a lateral thinker with a passion for problem-solving. Since joining our team as a Senior Business Communications Partner in November 2024, Ellen has hit the ground running and is thriving on the chance to tackle big-picture problems.

Joining a team at the heart of it all

When Ellen Giebels walked into our inner-city Sydney office in October 2024, she felt the usual job interview jitters. But very quickly, she also felt something else. Something that surprised her; a sense of being instantly at home.

“I remember meeting everyone the day of my interview and thinking ‘You just can’t fake that warm, human kind of experience,’” Ellen says. “Even though it was my first time in the building, I felt part of the team from the beginning because people were so welcoming and accommodating. They were so candid in my interview about the challenges of the role. To me, that indicated that the organisation was looking for the right people.”

Throughout her career, Ellen has worked at major Australian corporations as well as startups. Yet, she was pleasantly surprised by the different vibe at Cuscal.

“When you think of organisations in this sector, you might assume the culture would be buttoned up and stuffy. But everyone I spoke with at Cuscal was the opposite – really approachable, down to earth and keen to make an impact.”

Although Ellen’s journey is just beginning at Cuscal, she’s already built strong connections with her team and made the most of the opportunity to make the role her own.

“I’m finding out that our team is fun, collaborative and creative. There’s lots of jokes and lots of laughs. Across the team, there is a level of trust and respect, and certainly a level of accountability, as well. Everyone here is clear on the value they’re delivering, and we all take that pretty seriously.”

Build an accomplished career that’s growing.
