We sat down to chat with Bec about the importance of collaboration and her vision for our new Strategic Growth function.

Innovation and growth

When Bec joined us in October 2024, it was a homecoming of sorts. Her extensive experience in financial services – including previous stints collaborating with Cuscal during roles at Citibank and Visa – made her a perfect candidate to lead our newly established Strategic Growth function.

“This is my third time working with Cuscal, but my first as an employee,” Bec says. “The relationships I’ve built across the industry, coupled with Cuscal’s vision, made it an exciting opportunity to come on board and drive something new.”

Bec’s role is all about forging connections. Whether she’s collaborating with fintechs, financial institutions or emerging industries, she’s redefining how partnerships can create real value. Her mission is to expand Cuscal’s reach and connect clients with transformative opportunities, all while pushing the boundaries of innovation in payments.

The move to Cuscal came after the acquisition of Basiq, where Bec served as Head of Commercial and Growth. She credits Cuscal with recognising the value Basiq team members could bring, lending fresh perspectives to its established operations.

“What stood out was how much Cuscal valued the energy and innovation we brought from Basiq,” she says. “We felt incredibly welcomed, supported and empowered to be part of a bigger vision.”

Now, leading a greenfield initiative in Strategic Partnerships, Bec thrives on the opportunity to build something from the ground up.

“It’s good scary, not bad scary,” she says. “We’re building something transformative, and it’s incredibly energising to shape what this function can be.”
